1. How do I know if your product has the amount of minoxidil you claim?
A. Very good question. You should ask the question when you shop high strength minoxidil online.
We have our product tested by an independent reputable USA lab to ensure that the concentration meets our specification
You can see the testing result at the end of this page.
As far as we know, there is no other supplier of 15.0% minoxidil that was tested and passed the specification.
2. I noticed that you have another product called Dualgen-15 With PG. How is it different from this product?
A. We initially only offered Dualgen-15 NO PG.
Later we added Dualgen-15 With PG in response to the request of some of our customers.
These two products have the same effective ingredients (15% minoxidil, 5% azelaic acid, 0.025% retinol, and 0.001% caffeine) and are equally effective.
The only difference is that DualGen-15 NO PG uses glycerin, whereas DualGen-15 With PG uses propylene glycol (PG) as the delivery vehicle.
The use of glycerin in DualGen-15 NO PG eliminates any scalp irritation caused by propylene glycol that is seen in ~10% users.
It also slows down slightly the drying time.
So if you know you are allergic to propylene glycol, it is recommended to use DualGen-15 NO PG. Otherwise, you can consider DualGen-15 With PG.
3. Why use a 5% or higher minoxidil solution when 2% – 5% minoxidil solutions are readily available over the counter in many countries?
A. Minoxidil displays a dose-dependent effect with higher concentrations, improving the responsiveness and greater regrowth of hair.
The higher the effective dose of minoxidil, the better the result is.
That is exactly the reason why 5% minoxidil gave better results than 2% (see below)
4. Is 15% minoxidil safe?
Answer: Large clinical studies with thousands participants showed that minoxidil concentration had to be greater than 20 ng/mL to give systemic effects.
5% minoxidil solution has 1.2 ng / mL of minoxidil in the serum.
Thus, there is more than a 16-fold safety margin from the use of 5% topical minoxidil
There is more than 5-fold safety margin with the use of a 15% topical minoxidil solution assuming the serum concentration is tripled when the topical minoxidil is increased from 5% to 15%.
In reality, the serum concentration should be less tripled.
Thus the safety margin is more than 5-fold.
Nonetheless, the product has minoxidil, thus people are strongly recommended to be vigilant about all the listed side effects when using 15% minoxidil.
We haven’t seen any customer who developed side effects with the use of azelaic acid in this formula yet.
See the complete minoxidil side effects here.
5. Can you tell me the solvent composition of your product?
A. The solvent consists of Purified Water, Ethanol, and Glycerin.
We can't give the ratio of the solvents as it is our trade secret.
We have done extensive experiments to optimize the solvent composition to ensure our products have the optimal absorption, usability and effectiveness.
6. Is a glycerin based formula less effective than a propylene glycol based formula with the same minoxidil concentration?
A. No. Both glycerin and propylene glycol are pharmacologically inactive ingredients in the minoxidil products.
They are used in minoxidil solutions as solvent so minoxidil can be in solution form.
In addition, their slow rate of evaporation allows the effective ingredients minoxidil to form a thin film on the scalp for continued absorption.
7. Does minoxidil harm healthy hair?
A. Not at all. Although the exact pharmacodynamics of minoxidil is not well understood, the effect of minoxidil is to safely promote growth and to maintain maturity of the hair follicles.
These effects are most observable in hair follicles affected by male pattern baldness (MPB).
8. Why is azelaic acid added to 15% minoxidil solution?
A: There are two main reasons why 15% minoxidil is usually compounded as 15% minoxidil with azelaic acid:
1). It has shown in vitro study that azelaic acid is a strong DHT blocker.
It reduces the DHT concentration in the scalp to reverse genetic hair loss (male pattern baldness) that is currently believed to be caused by the excessive DHT in the scalp.
2). The other reason that is not so well known to the general public is that it actually helps the absorption of minoxidil.
Minoxidil is a base, which likes to grab a proton in a solution and become an ionic molecule.
Our skin does not absorb any ionic molecules (a molecule that is positively or negatively charged) very well.
When azelaic acid is added, it will form azelaic acid-minoxidil complex, which is a neutral molecule and can be absorbed by our skin or scalp much more efficiently.
9. If 15% minoxidil works better than 5%, why isn't there any big pharm company that offers it?
A: There are three reasons why big pharm company is not offering it.
(1). Technical challenge.
Very few companies in the world know how to compound 15% minoxidil.
Believe it or not, most 15% minoxidil products available online are fake.
They are either repackaged 5% minoxidil solutions or even no minoxidil at all.
You can easily find out if a 15% minoxidil is real or not by having it tested by a reputable analytical lab.
Arl Bio Pharma (http://arlok.com/) can test it for 150 US dollars.
(2). Prohibitively Expensive:
Companies need to go through an FDA approval process to allow them to market the solution.
The approval process can easily cost hundreds of million dollars, and it can take many years to complete the clinical trials.
(3). Lack of Patent Protection:
They don't have a patent for the use of higher than 5% minoxidil solutions to treat male pattern baldness, which means any company can make and sell it.
For something to be patentable, one of the requirements is that it has to be something new that has never been disclosed to the public before.
So even if a big pharmaceutical company decides to invest in 15% minoxidil and successfully gets FDA approval, it won't be able to patent it since this formula has long been used.
Yes, if they can make a 15% minoxidil foam, they could patent the 15% minoxidil foam because no one has ever made such a product to our best knowledge.
Without a patent, a big company won’t invest in it to get FDA approval because its profits cannot be guaranteed.
Keep in mind that when big companies make decisions on investment, the first thing they consider is how much profit it can make, not how good a product is.
If selling sugar water or junk food can bring them big profit, they will not hesitate to do so.
10. Are all 15% minoxidil products the same?
A: No. Part of the reason is mentioned in question 9.
Most of the 15% minoxidil products are actually not real.
In addition, the solvent vehicles and their amounts are different between brands, resulting in difference in absorption and usability and ultimately their effectiveness.
Furthermore, the difference in auxiliary ingredients (such as finasteride, azelaic acid, retinol, and or caffeine) further differs one brand from another.
11. Is 15% minoxidil stable?
A: The stability of 15% minoxidil varies depending on how it is compounded.
If properly compounded, it has pretty decent stability.
We have done stability study. It shows that It is stable for at least 3 years.
All minoxidil products should be stored at room temperature.
Crystallization may occur if it is stored in a refrigerator.
If crystal is formed in a minoxidil solution due to improper storage, you can warm your 15% minoxidil bottle in hot water and shake the bottle for a few minutes to dissolve the crystals.
12. How to use 15% minoxidil solution?
A: It is typically recommended to use 15% minoxidil once a day in the evening.
Because of the high concentration, it takes time to dry.
If properly applied, most of the product should be absorbed by the scalp in 1 hour.
It is also recommended to use a 5% minoxidil in the morning.
13. Do you have any before and after photos to show it works.
A: we have many such photos sbumitted by customers.
Below is one example of using Dualgen-15 NO PG for six months.
You can view more resutls here (15% minoxidil results).
14. Do you have anything stronger than Dualgen-15 NO PG?
A. Yes. We do have stronger solutions available.
Please check out our Dualgen-15 NO PG Plus, and Dualgen-15 With PG Plus.
Both products have 15% minoxidil and topical finasteride at 0.1%.
