DualGen-15 NO PG

DualGen-15 NO PG

This product is NOT offered in the US.

  • Formulation exclusively available at Minoxidilmax: DualGen-15 NO PG has the maximum strength of FDA approved hair growth stimulator (15% minoxidil), DHT blocker (5% azelaic acid), minoxidil enhancer (0.025% retinol) and hair follicle stimulator (0.001% caffeine). No one else is offering a product that has these four clinically and scientifically proven ingredients in one formula.

Propylene glycol (PG or PPG), a major component used in any other minoxidil hair growth product (such Kirkland minoxidil) as a delivery vehicle, is not used in this product to avoid any scalp irritation such as scalp itchiness and/or inflammation. Glycerin is used as the delivery vehicle. This product is called Dualgen-15 NO PG to be differentiated from the other product called DualGen-15 With PG that has same effective ingredients but compounded using propylene glycol as the delivery vehicle.

  • Q. Is DualGen-15 NO PG FDA approved?

    A. No. Among hundreds of products available on the market for hair loss treatment, FDA has only approved two products. One is Rogaine (5% minoxidil), the other is Propecia (1 mg finasteride pill). Any other product is not FDA approved. Some products make statement that sounds like they are FDA approved. In most cases, what it means is that the products contain the FDA approved ingredient--minoxidil. The products themselves are not FDA approved.

    Q. If a hair regrowth product is made of natural ingredients, does it mean that it is safer than a product made of synthetic ingredients?

    A. No. As a matter of fact, the opposite may be even true. First of all, there is no hair growth product that is made of all natural ingredients. Secondly, natural ingredients are exposed toxic chemicals during extraction such as hexane, ethylacetate, etc. Thirdly, quality control testing of natural ingredients to detect any toxic impurities is very challenging. Most raw material suppliers never even try to test them. Fourthly, there is very limited or no safety study for the natural ingredients used in some so-called natural hair growth products. Lastly, there are numerous natural lethal stuff such as fungus, moulds, or even plants, or flowers.

  • Q. Is there a difference between Rogaine’s active ingredient (i.e. minoxidil) and that of MinoxidilMax LLC?

    A. No. Both use minoxidil as the effective ingredient. The difference is that Minoxidilmax has other effective ingredients such as azelaic acid, retinol, caffeine in some formula.

    Q. How do I know if your product has the amount of minoxidil you claim?

    A. Most of our customers came to us because they were not satisfied with regular minoxidil solutions for the following reasons: The regular minoxidil solutions a) have minoxidil concentration no higher than 5%; b) do not contain other ingredients such as azelaic acid, retinol, etc.; c) take too long to dry; d) cause scalp irritation.

We have our product tested by independent reputable USA lab to ensure that the concentration meets our specification.

See the testing result at the end of this page, or you can also see the testing result here.

    Q. Two main reasons why azelaic acid is added to 15% minoxidil solution?

    A. There are two main reasons why azelaic acid is added 15% minoxidil solution: 1). It has shown in vitro study that azelaic acid is a strong a DHT blocker. It reduces the DHT concentration in scalp to reverse genetic hair loss (male pattern baldness) that is currently believed to be caused by the excessive DHT in scalp. 2). the other reason that is not well known to general public is that it actually helps the solubility of minoxidil. Without azelaic acid and other additives, you can only get up to 6 to 7% minoxidil in a solution consisting of propylene glycol, water and alcohol. Can one get minoxidil up to 15% minoxidil by using 5% azelaic acid? The answer is no. You can only about 10% minoxidil without additional technical increase the solubility of minoxidil.

    Q. Which product should I choose between DualGen-15 NO PG or DualGen-15 With PG?

    A. Please be advised that both products are exclusively for men, not for women. So if you are a woman, you should not use either of them. We initially only offered Dualgen-15 NO PG. Later we added Dualgen-15 With PG  in response to the request of some of our customers.  These two products have the same effective ingredients (15% minoxidil, 5% azelaic acid, 0.025% retinol, and 0.001% caffeine) and are equally effective. The only difference is that DualGen-15 NO PG uses glycerin, whereas DualGen-15 With PG uses propylene glycol as the delivery vehicle. The use of glycerin in DualGen-15 NO PGeliminates any scalp irritation caused by propylene glycol that is seen in ~10% users. It also slows down slightly the drying time. So if you know you are allergic to propylene glycol, it is recommended to use DualGen-15 NO PG. Otherwise, you can consider DualGen-15 With PG.

    Q. How long does it take to dry DualGen-15 NO PG or DualGen-15 With PG?

    A. DualGen-15 takes slightly longer time than regular 5% minoxidil (such as Rogaine liquid or Kirkland 5% minoxidil) to dry due to the fact that it has larger amount of minoxidil and additional effective ingredients. If properly applied, most of the product should be absorbed within one hour. You can wash you hair 2 hours after the application. There are several ways to help absorb the solution faster: A) try to apply the solution directly to your scalp and avoid your hair by parting your hair into one or more rows to maximize the scalp exposure. The solution applied to the hair will never be absorbed by your scalp, resulting in wasting product and greasy hair; B) carefully spread the solution evenly on your scalp using your finger tips.

    Q. Why use a 5% or higher minoxidil solution when 2% – 5% minoxidil solutions are readily available over the counter in many countries?

    A. Minoxidil displays a dose-dependent effect with higher concentrations, improving the responsiveness and greater regrowth of hair. The higher the effective dose of minoxidil, the better the results, albeit there is not a directly proportional response.

    Q. If higher than 5% minoxidil solution is more effective than 5%, why isn't a big company offering them?

    A. A lot of people ask why big companies don't offer 15% minoxidil if it really works better than 5%. There are three main reasons why big companies are not interested in offering 15% minoxidil. (1). They need to go through FDA approval process to allow them to market the solution. The approval process can easily cost hundreds of million dollars, let alone it takes many years to complete the clinical trials.

(2). They don't have a patent for the use of higher than 5% minoxidil solutions to treat male pattern baldness, which means any company can make and sell it. For something to be patentable, one of the requirements is that it has to be something new that was never disclosed to public (meaning no prior art). So even if a big pharmaceutical company decides to invest in 15% minoxidil and successfully get FDA approval, it won't be able to patent it since this formula has long been used. Yes, if they can make a 15% minoxidil foam, they could patent the 15% minoxidil foam because no one has ever made such a product to our best knowledge. Without a patent, a big company won’t invest in it to get FDA approval because its profits cannot be guaranteed. Keep in mind when big companies make decisions on investment, the first thing they consider is how much profit it can make not how good a product is. If selling sugar water or junk food can bring them big profit, they will not hesitate to do so.

(3). The last but not least reason is due to manufacturing and logistic consideration. For this formula to be absorbed in a reasonable timeframe, you will need use a lot of alcohol, higher than 50%, which is much more flammable than 30% alcohol. As a result, it completely changes the scope of requirement for manufacturing process and shipping, resulting in much higher cost.

A lot of people ask why there is no a big company that is smart enough to come with a fast dry 5% liquid minoxidil similar to EssenGen-5 Fast Dry. Why would they stick with a formula like Rogaine or Kirkland 5% liquid minoxidil that has only 30% alcohol and 50% propylene glycol which takes ages to dry, not switching to a 50% alcohol and 30% propylene glycol formula? We believe this is part of the reason.

    Q. Should a 15% minoxidil with 5% azelaic acid solution be yellowish?

    A. You might have heard from somewhere that 15% minoxidil should be yellowish because of azelaic acid it. That is only partially correct. When you have very pure minoxidil and azelaic acid and compound them together, it is almost colorless when it is just compounded. The yellow color slowly develops as it ages. Even a solution with just 5% minoxidil (without azelaic acid) will change to yellowish color if it is stored long enough. Our Dualgen-15 always has the yellowish color because of the ingredient retinol in it.

    Q. How can I know that using a high concentration minoxidil solution isn’t an overdose and/or won’t be counterproductive to hair growth?

    A. Minoxidil has to have a serum concentration of 20 ng/mL to have any hemodynamic or other systemic effect in the human body. Allowing for 1.7% absorption of minoxidil from topical application, a 2% minoxidil solution will result in 0.6 ng/ mL and a 5% minoxidil solution will result in 1.2 ng / mL of minoxidil in the serum. So, there is more than a 16-fold safety margin from the use of 5% topical minoxidil and a 5-fold safety margin with the use of a 15% topical minoxidil solution.

    Q. Can you tell me the solvent composition of your product?

    A. Sorry that we cannot disclose that information as it is our trade secret. We have done very extensive experiments to find the right solvent composition to ensure our products have the optimal absorption, usability and effectiveness.

    Q. Is a glycerin based formula less effective than a propylene glycol based formula with the same minoxidil concentration?

    A. No. Both glycerin and propylene glycol are pharmacologically inactive ingredients in the minoxidil products. They are used in minoxidil solutions as solvent so minoxidil can be in solution form. In addition, their slow rate of evaporation allows the effective ingredients minoxidil to form a thin film on the scalp for continued absorption after the alcohol necessary to the base solution has penetrated.

    Q. Can I expect improved results with the higher concentrations of minoxidil?

    A. The 5% and higher minoxidil solutions have the potential to promote regrowth of more hair and thicker hair, but they do not change the genetic properties of the hair follicles. Although the growth ((anagen) phase may be lengthened, the dormant (telogen) phase of approximately 3 months is unchanged. In order to see results, the existing thin hair shafts need to be replaced with thicker ones. This is why it usually takes between 3 and 6 months to appreciate significant hair regrowth with any concentration of minoxidil solution of 2% or greater.

    Q. Does minoxidil harm healthy hair?

    A. Not at all. Although the exact pharmacodynamics of minoxidil are not well understood, the effect of minoxidil is to safely promote growth and to maintain maturity of the hair follicles. These effects are most observable in hair follicles affected by MPB.
