What is Nu-Hair DHT Blocker - Hair Regrowth Formula?

Besides being a mouthful, DHT Blocker is a supplement that well, inhibits the production of DHT. For some reason, it is sold under two different brands, Nuhair and Shen Min by the same parent company, Natrol, with similar designs.

The Shen-Min DHT Blocker Version

We've gone over why hair loss happens and what can be done to stop DHT from causing it. Thie supplement is taken twice daily. This yields a dosage of approximately 500mg of phytosterols and saw palmetto. Problem is the saw palmetto is not standardized to a certain percentage. It could be 10% for all we know.

This formula does have the DHT blocking ingredients saw palmetto and beta-sitosterol. However, it is not a comprehensive a formula as Nioxin or Maxhair. It only has zinc and selenium to aid in hair growth.

Is DHT Blocker - Hair Regrowth Formula Safe? The dosages are low but reasonable. It is a safe product.

Selenium is a trace mineral that is incorporated into proteins which act as antioxidants.

Saw palmetto, pumpkin, and quercetin are ingredients commonly used to inhibit the production of DHT.

He shou wu extract is another ingredient less commonly used to inhibit DHT production. 

Kudzu is used in China for a variety of reasons. It does have a number of isoflavones that may probe useful in hormonal balance optimal to hair growth.

The soy isoflavones used in this formula aid hormonal balance but the main active ingredients are saw palmetto, soy phytosterols, pumpkin, and quercetin.

Lycopene is also included as an antioxidant.

 

Does Nuhair/Shen Min DHT Blocker Really Work?

 Both the Shen Min and NuHair products target production of DHT - the hormone most often associated with hair loss. So it may slow down hair loss at the best. But it won't do much with hair regrowth because it lacks hair growth stimulator like minoxidil.

 

Any Side Effects? 

It is a natural supplement. So it is supposed to be safe. However, it may cause liver damage as what is stated on the label. All  NuHair/Nuhair products carry a warning which states that, if you have liver problems, you should consult with a healthcare professional before you use them. That's because, one of the main ingredients common to all these products is the Chinese herb he shou wu (or fo-ti). That is why we topical solution like minoxidil topical products are preferred as it is less likely cuase any organ damage.
